About the event
From a young age, he grew up listening to Western pop and new wave music, and later, through dance, he started listening to hip hop and R&B, which sparked his interest in black music. At the age of 20, he was deeply influenced by the authentic New York club culture he encountered through dance, and he started his career as a DJ based in Tokyo.
In the 1990s, he was mainly active as a house dancer and was also a member of ROOTS, the originator of Japanese house dance.
In 2019, RED ZONE, which had been running every Tuesday for 18 years, came to an end. Now, with the aim of further establishing a style and pursuing individuality,
He is active as an open format DJ with a focus on hip hop as his base, but also actively DJs mainly in house music, influenced by his dance roots.
King Street Sounds has released the digital-only mix album "MOVE YOUR BODY" by DJ KANGO, and the collaboration between King Street Sounds and APPLEBUM has resulted in the sale of official T-shirts and a promotional video featuring some of Japan's best house dancers! Special versions of the digital-only tracks included in the dance mix album are now available on 7-inch vinyl for the first time in the world.
